When to combine CAS and HUB roles on a single server  in Exchange 2010
Hi all, When I can combine CAS and HUB roles on a single server in Exchange 2010? What are all the advantages if both CAS and HUB are in the same server? Any inputs regarding this are welcome. Regards, Sathya

Hi Well if you want MBX to be HA you will need a HWLB if placing all roles on the servers, failover clustering and NLB clustering can't be installed together Either you can do 2 MBX (DAG) and 2 HUB/CAS in a Cas Array and then NLB them, but I would recommend to use HWLB instead, it's so much better How does your environment looks like today? Users? Sizes etc? Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

If you aren't doing high availability and have a small number of users (less than 100) then put them all on the same server. However there is no single answer to this. The only answer is - it depends. Every environment is different, the design has to suit the business requirements, and that goes for operational as well as financial.
